What to expect Print

Since we believe that the message of Christianity is relevant for everyone, we try to make Christchurch have a relaxed feel, with a talk which clearly explains the Bible.

What happens in a typical meeting?

We initially chat over coffee and biscuits - a great chance to get to meet new people! We'll then start our meeting with a prayer and sing a couple of songs, which will be done in a modern style by the band. We'll have the Bible read to us and then clearly explained, in a talk which will last approx. 30 mins. After the talk, we'll close with another song or two. After that, you are free to head off or to mill around and chat.

How long does it last?

The whole thing lasts about an hour.

Who is Christchurch suitable for?

Christchurch is suitable for both Christians and those investigating Christianity.

Is there a dress code?

No, come in whatever you are comfortable in!

Will there be a collection?

No - we often have people who are just visiting us. If you're thinking of coming along, we'd like to welcome you as our guest and we don't want you to face any of the pressure or embarrassment that a collection can bring. If you are a Christian who wants to make Christchurch your regular church, we ask that you contact us about how you can give regularly to support the work of Christchurch.

Will I be asked to do anything I'm not comfortable with?

If you don't feel comfortable to do something (such as pray or sing), we are happy for you just to observe - no one will force you to participate.

Christchurch is a ministry of Pontefract Congregational Church
